Dig Dug, from Dig Dug, by Rob Donnely

Dig Dug, by Rob Donnely

"All the 3D stuff is made in clay. The 2D stuff I made in Photoshop. It's not exactly a seamless blending of the two, but I like having the 2D and 3D contrast with each other. I also wanted to maintain the lighting atmosphere of the original game's candy colored world set against a jet black sky. I never played Dig Dug on any home console. I only played at a restaurant my Dad used to take me and my brothers to. They also had Donkey Kong there, but i used to think the object of that game was to kill Mario with the barrels before he got to the top. So my Dig Dug games were always more satisfying. I actually forgot about it completely until I rediscovered it at a bar recently. I realized the concept of Dig Dug is pretty weird. a guy with a grappling hook slash shovel slash pump fights dragons and red balloons underground, but for some reason I accept the premise completely without being told what my mission is." --Rob
